No-deal Brexit company regulations become law, to be enforced on exit day

W

e reported recently on the publication of the draft Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships and Partnerships (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019.  The regulations have now become a statutory instrument that will come into force on Brexit day (currently set to be on the 29th of March 2019).

No further amendments were made to the regulations since being published (for the third time) by the BEIS (the UK Government department for business) on 14 January 2019.

The purpose of the regulations is to ensure that inconsistencies within the UK corporate law framework, that would otherwise be created by withdrawal from the European Union, are addressed prior to exit day.
