Advising French client on the licence of its nanobody-based-tech to US pharma corporate
Our team advised on an involved set of commercial contracts – value in the tens of millions of euros – by which our client’s nanobody-based-technologies and materials (for the delivery of therapeutic molecules such as small oligonucleotides, antibodies, peptide hormones, enzymes, and lipid nanoparticles into the brain across the blood-brain barrier and into muscles) were evaluated by the US counterparty, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company, in preclinical studies. If successful, the aim is to subsequently licence the technology on pre-agreed terms in relation to one or more specific therapeutic targets and to submit a formal request to the US Food and Drug Administration to obtain authorisation to begin clinical trials in humans. The contracts were under English law, and our team worked with one of our best friend French law firms on the project.
