Notpla’s seaweed packaging business raises £20 million in new capital from Temasek Trust and others
Notpla is a UK company making sustainable (and edible!) packaging out of seaweed. It won The Earthshot Prize in 2022, that prize taking its name from JFK’s “we choose to go to the moon” speech of 1962. And Notpla has now raised £20 million in new capital in a series A+ funding round from a handful of high-profile investors including HLaw client, Temasek Trust.
Sifted magazine commented, “It’s the biggest round for a European sustainable packaging startup in 2024 so far — after a record year of funding in the sector in 2023 — and comes as Europe and the US move towards stricter regulation on non-recyclable packaging.”
Temasek Trust is the philanthropic arm of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund. HLaw acted for Temasek Trust alongside the Wong Partnership in Singapore.
